Swim lessons!

Tonight was our first night of swim lessons! Colton loved it and didn't seem to mind the water. Chase took some convincing. When there was about 5 minutes of class left Chase decided to get all the way in the water with Kyle instead of sitting on the steps. He picked out a water gun to play with and next thing you know class was over. So we had tears because it was time to leave. But hopefully he will be happy to be back there on Wednesday!

We love the AC!

It was scorching hot on Saturday. Well, after it stopped raining it was. Because of the rain, Kyle ended up having to go to work until late. So we had a fun day inside where it was nice and cool! We built forts, played with playdough, built train tracks, and shot monsters. It was a fun day with my boys!

10 on WEDNESDAY

1. Once again Tuesday came and went, so I'm catching up on a Wednesday again. Hopefully I can get some pictures up this week.

2. At this very moment we are trying to decide what to do about daycare. I want Colton in a home setting for at least another year, but we think Chase should be in Preschool. It seems like a pain to drop off at two different places, so we don't know what to do. It is a very stressful process. The centers are so expensive but we are also scared of going to another home daycare. You know the centers are always open and they aren't going to close because of a personal reason. Decisions, decisions.

3. Oh, and did I mention this decision has to be made before the end of the day on Friday?!

4. Colton is pulling up on everything now. He thinks he's pretty cool doing it too. He just giggles and looks at you with an expression like "See me? See what I'm doing?!"

5. Chase went with Grandma the other day and got his hair cut. I don't know what it is, but he has acted more "mature" since getting his haircut. Well, at least until the major fit he threw tonight because he wanted to build his train track instead of getting jammies on. He's been listening more, being so sweet to Colton, and talking more maturely. Had to have been the hair cut! :)

6. Chase and Colton have both been eating like wild animals. They are bottomless pits. So it could be one of two things. 1) They are getting ready to have a growth spurt or 2) They are both getting ready to get sick. I'm hoping for #1!

7. Chsae was supposed to have his preschool screening two weeks ago but I had to cancel because of work, but it's rescheduled for August 8th now. I'm anxious to see what the results show.

8. Colton's two bottom teeth are so close to coming in. The poor little guy has been miserable lately. He won't let me put him down! I go to the bathroom holding him, brush my teeth holding him, fix dinner holding him, etc... He won't let me out of his site without having a total meltdown and making the saddest face ever. That's mommy's boy!

9. We took Chase to see Cars 2 and he loved it. He has been reinacting scenes from the movie since. In the movie Mater has a girlfriend and the other cars tease him. Now when Chase is playing, he designates one toy as the girlfriend and one toy as the boyfriend. Oh geez....and so it begins!

10. Another Just Between Friends sale is coming up in August, so it's time to get stuff ready again. I made about $300 after their part was taken out, not too bad. I have a lot of Winter baby stuff to sell!

10 on WEDNESDAY

1. Ok. Time to get busy with this blog. Work has just been insanely busy and crazy, so I haven't felt like blogging in the evenings. In addition to all of the changes taken place at work, I have been given a new role as a Lead. So....I'm tired. :)

2. We have been very busy! We had a great family vacation, but I was ready to come back home to my baby Colton. I missed him like crazy, but it was nice to give Chase some undivided attention for a few days.

3. Colton turned 9 months last week and he is on the move. Actually, he has been on the move for a while now, I am just a little behind. Poor Chase can't keep Colton out of his toys now. We are working on to "nicely" tell Colton that he can't have something instead of yelling "No Colton! I mad at you! I don't like you!"

4. Both boys are starting a new daycare in two weeks and I am a nervous wreck. I hate that they have to switch, but what can you do? After looking at about a million daycare, I have found one that seems wonderful and I know people that have gone there and loved it.

5. Chase has not been sleeping real well at night, which is not typical of Chase. He has always been a really good sleeper. He wakes up frequently during the night whining and during the day he has been very whiney/fussy with us. He keeps saying his back hurts. I'm thinking maybe growing pains?

6. Colton started table food this week and he loves it! He is eating so good. Last night he ate an entire sweet potato, a ton of pasta, and his bottle. Tonight he killed the peas and mandarin oranges!

7. I hit a milestone last week. The big 30! Wow. I remember when 30 seemed so old.

8. Chase just got signed up for swim lessons and soccer. He starts swim on August 1st and soccer at Wilson's August 20th. Plus, I found out that Harrisburg offers Pre-K t-ball, so he gets to do that next year. Super excited! I'm nervous about the swim lessons though. He says he will not get in the water. He is already refusing. This should be interesting.

9. Kyle is hating this hot weather. 100+ degrees several days in a row is no fun, especially for a construction worker. He is so worn out at the end of the day.

10. I am vowing to do better with this blog. Colton is almost a year old and I have hardly blogged his "babyhood", I must do better.

10 on Wednesday

1. Time to catch up again! Chase is now a big 3 year old!

2. Chase had his 3 year check-up last week and he has only gained one pound this past year, but....wait for it, wait for it.....he grew 4 INCHES!!! The doctor was laughing because he usually only sees this in puberty in kids. He said we better invest in a basketball goal.

3. Colton went to the doctor last week too. He weighs 19 pounds now. Colton was at the doctor because once again got RSV that got bad enough that led to Bronchiolitis. Not only did Colton get it, but Chase got it again too. So they were both on breathing treatments last week. Chase has gotten so used to it that he loves it now. Colton is able to fall asleep during his treatment now instead of crying.

4. Chase had a great party. Thanks to all of our family and our friends Curt, Kelsey and Finn for coming to the party. Chase loved his homemade Lightning McQueen cake. Pictures to follow.

5. We are now on the hunt for daycare for Colton and preschool for Chase. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would say this, but we will now be paying for two kids to attend a center. It is going to cost us a butt load! I just feel sick thinking about it. We'll be paying more daycare and preschool then most people pay for a mortgage. Ok, I don't know anybody that pays that much for mortgage. It's insane. Those places are just making a killing, they have to be as much as they charge per child.

6. We are going to have Chase screened for Preschool next month. I think he'll do great because he passed every test his dr put him through last week (counting, colors, drawing, talking, etc...) but I'm hoping he has a shy attack and doesn't "perform" so we can get him into the Preschool's in the public schools.

7. Colton is thiiiiiis close to crawling. He has tried a couple of times and went splat on the floor. The motivation to get him to move? The TV remote. Or any toy of Chase's.

8. The reason for us having to find new daycare is because our place is closing. I'm not happy, but everything happens for a reason. This will be good for the boys. I hope.

9. We got Chase a sand box for his birthday. We debated a new/bigger train table but that boy lives to be outside so we chose the sandbox. Good choice because he LOVES that thing. Swinging and playing in the sandbox are his two favorite things to do right now.

10. We had a great Memorial Day. We spent the whole day outside playing in the pool and on Chase's new Lightning McQueen slip n slide. The water was a little cool so Colton didn't like that, but as long as he was on my lap he was fine. Since Chase is potty trained now, he hates the feeling of wet pants. So when his trunks got wet in the pool, he kept thinking he peed on himself and wanted to change. He wanted to just run around naked outside all day.

11. A bonus this week.... I caught Chase peeing in Kyle's exhaust pipe on the Tahoe the other morning. Nice.

10 on WEDNESDAY

1.Yeah, I know, it's been a while AGAIN. This momma has been busy!

2. The biggest news that everybody has missed is that Chase is potty trained! He has been in underwear for going on 4 weeks now! It literally took him 1/2 day to get potty trained. We had been in pull-ups for a while and he would go in the potty at school, but not at home, and would never tell anybody when he needed to go potty. He would just tell us when he had already gone. So one Sunday I decided he was going to wear underwear and that was that. He did not like the idea after his first accident, but he only had like 3 more accidents after that. He ended up going to Grandma's at lunchtime and spent the rest of the day there in a pull-up, but come Monday morning I put him in underwear and sent him to school. It's been smooth sailing since! He's like that with everything. With crawling, he just got up one day and took off crawling. He never got up on his hands and knees prior to that. With walking, he never took a step or two to practice. He just got up one day and took off. And now with potty training. I am so proud of him!!

3. More big news is that Colton has been sitting up for a couple weeks now and he loves it. Chase loves it too. They can sit and play together now and it is so cute to watch.

4. Colton is saying Mama and Dada like crazy and just jabbering away. He pulled a Chase. He never had the baby jargon, just hummed, and then one day he just started babbling like crazy.

5. MORE big news....Chase turns 3 tomorrow!!! I can't believe it. I'm having a hard time with it. I was putting together a photomontage of this last year and I started crying. Where has the time gone?

6. Also tomorrow is our 4 year wedding anniversary! We have no Anniversary plans as of right now, will probably wait until next weekend when the Birthday excitement has passed.

7. Chase's party is on Sunday. He wanted to have his party at home this year. Just a small affair of family and a couple of close friends. I'm attempting to make him a Lightning McQueen cake. TOnight we are making Lightning McQueen cupcakes for him to take to school. He is so excited about that! In fact, we had tears this morning because he thought today was the day to take them and was heartbroken when I told him it was tomorrrow.

8. I was supposed to go back to the Dermatologist yesterday to have a section of the skin on my left leg cut out, but had to reschedule due to a meeting at work. So that isn't being done until June 6th now. Thank goodness! I am dreading it. I have never had my skin cut and then stitched (well, besides childbirth).

9. Vacation is just a little more than a month away. It's going to be expensive but I think we really need this vacation. We are going to be away from Colton for a whole week, and I am really sad about that, but as long as he doesn't have any major milestones during that week like crawling or a first tooth, then I will survive.

10. I almost cracked yesterday and got a HUGE cheeseburger with a HUGE bun on it. I was THIS close. But then I had to remind myself how sick I could possibly get if I did, so I didn't get it. But man it would have tasted so good!! But I will be eating some donuts up on Pikes Peak next month. Nothing will stand in my way then.

Easter Morning

10 on Tuesday

1. Well, it's been a while! But man has it been busy!

2. Colton is now 6 months old. At his 6 month check up he weighed 18 pounds and is 26 3/4 inches long. He seems really big to us, but he is actually smaller than what Chase was at this age.

3. Chase's 3rd birthday is right around the corner and he talks about it non-stop. If he gets mad at us he tells us that we are not coming to his birthday party. He said he is having 3 parties. One at school, one at home, and one at Chucke Cheese. And all three are Lightning McQueen parties. I cannot believe he is turning 3! Makes me so sad. Time has gone too fast.

4. We had a great Easter! We ended up going to Troy, Kansas and the boys were so good. Colton didn't cry all day and Chase ended up not sleeping for 1 minute all day. Even after spending more than 6 hours in the car. But he crashed when we got home around 9:00 Sunday night.

5. I participated in the Just Between Friends sale last week and sold $469.14 worth of baby/kid stuff. Makes me excited for next year when I can really clear out some baby stuff!

6. Betty Crocker makes Gluten Free cake mix now! YEAH!! The Easter Bunny brought me some. I love that bunny! Speaking of the Easter Bunny...Colton loved him. Chase was really excited about going to see him, but after standing in line for quite some time he backed out when it was his turn and wanted nothing to do with the overgrown rabbit. He wouldn't even do it for some jelly beans.

7. Colton is starting to sit on his own now and is still working on two bottom teeth. Looks like they may come in about the same time, they are both so close to cutting through.

8. Kyle hit a deer on Route E Friday night going about 60 mph. It was a tiny deer, but completely ruined the whole front end of the Tahoe, Broke out 2 headlights, broke the bumper, the grill, the brush guard, and dented the hood. He was so mad.

9. I will be posting a lot of pictures on here this week while it's not too hectic. Time to get caught up on some pictures.

10. Who made up the phrase "the terrible two's? I have LOVED the two's!! The three's though, I may not survive them. Holy cow.

10 on Tuesday

1. Wow, it's been a while! So much has happened this past month. Where do I even begin?
2. Colton ended up with RSV and spent a week on a breathing machine. And to top it off he had an ear infection at the same time. He had a cough that seemed to get progressively worse, ended up sounding like a barking dog. I was getting him ready for his bath one night and noticed that he was having a hard time breathing and his chest was sinking in between his ribs. I called the Pedicatrician on call and they said to bring him in right away or take him straight to the emergency room. They swabbed him up the nose (which he HATED and brought tears to my eyes watching) and tested positive for RSV. Everybody seems to be healthy now...(fingers crossed)
3. I'm pretty sure Chase just woke up one day and became a big boy. The things he says, the way he acts, and the way he plays all resemble a big boy now. He will be 3 next month. It is a bitter sweet time. I'm loving watching him grow, but I am SOOOO sad that I will never get these "baby years" back again with him. I'm pretty sure we lucked out with him and he was possibly the easiest baby ever. Well, minus those few weeks of blood curdling colic when he was a newborn.
4. Colton will be 6 months old next week. He is so close to being able to sit up on his own and is already getting up on his knees while having tummy time. He spends most of his time watching Chase and I think he is just eager to go, go, go.
5. Chase talks about his birthday non-stop. He wants to have his birthday party at home this year. So we are just going to invite family and a couple of close friends. Then on the night of his birthday he wants to also have a party at Chucke Cheese (that will consist of Chase, Mommy, Daddy and Colton). But changes on a daily basis. If he gets mad at us then he tells us that he is not going to invite us to his birthday party. His third party will be at school. He wants all 3 parties to be Lightning McQueen parties. And his monkey that goes everywhere with him...well, apparently it's his birthday too and he needs to have parties too. So Chase has been busy planning Monkey's parties too.
6. Tomorrow is Tons of Trucks at Cosmo and Chase is very excited. It was my source of bribery this morning when he was whining at me saying "I wanna go night night. I wasn't done sleeping Mommy!" I swear that boy is 2 3/4 going on 17. He is impossible to get up most mornings. That boy loves his sleep.
7. I have spent many, many nights going through all of the boys clothes and their toys and we now have a TON of stuff to sell at the Just Between Friends sale. Holy cow! I don't even know how all of that stuff fit into the house to begin with. And maternity clothes? Those are going too!! And those that don't sell are being donated to Charity. I don't plan on ever needing those again. BUH-BYE!
8. Potty training is going good for Chase. Our two hurrdles right now are getting him to poop in the toilet and not his pull-up and also going potty on public toilets. He is scared to death of public toilets. He said they are too big and scary. And I haven't even mentioned to him that they are disgusting!
9. Colton has two teeth coming in. One is very, very close. He is chewing on anything and everything he can get his hands on.
10. Friday night is the George Strait concert and I am so excited!! I cannot wait!!

****Side note: I will finish this darn 30 day challenge. Just in bits and pieces, not all at once like it was intended.

30 Day Challenge- Day #25

Ok, I have failed miserably at this 30 day challenge. It's been a few days. But I'm not going to quit. I will just pick up where I left off.

Day 25 - A picture of your day

A teething baby + lack of sleep + a LOT of changes taking place at work = a LOT of caffeine. And this didn't even include my humungo Cappucinno I had first thing in the morning.

30 Day Challenge- Day #24

Day 24 - A picture of something you wish you could change

I wish I could change the fact that this bag is now half empty. But I can't. The damage is done. I bought this bag at Walgreens during my lunch break. I sat down at my desk with an open bag and went to town. Before I knew it the bag was half gone. I closed the bag and sat it aside. I then reached for the bag and took out some more. So, I was then forced to take extreme measures. I twisted a paper clip around it and stapled it and stuck it inside of my zipped purse. Damn you peanut butter M&M's.

30 Day Challenge- Day #23

Day 23 - A picture of your favorite book

I love this book. It made me laugh hysterically out loud and it made me cry the dramatic ugly cry. I could so relate to this ornary little puppy. Have I ever mentioned that Riley and I are Puppy Kindergarten drop outs? Oh yeah. It was awful. I left the first class of Kindergarten in tears. I got in the car, pointed my finger at Riley, and told her she was in BIG trouble. Because she totally understood me, right? We never went back again. Instead I taught her everything at home. Let's just put one little image in your head. After the class ended (we were the only ones that didn't bring treats, and Riley was the only puppy that refused to lay on her back and lie still while I stroked her belly) I was talking to the lady while sitting in a metal folding chair and I was holding onto Riley's leash that was hooked to her collar. There was another puppy class going on and Riley could not contain herself. She started to pull on the leash so she could go join the other class. Next thing I know, the chair I am sitting in starts sliding across the concrete floor. Leash still in hand. That little rascal was dragging me across the room while still sitting in my chair. So...that was the extent of our Kindergarten curriculum.

30 Day Challenge- Day #22

Day 22 - A picture of something you wish you were better at

Yep, this is the scene in my house about every single morning. Or any day when I need to leave the house. I can't ever find anything. Then I start to get mad that I can't find whatever I'm looking for (which nine times out of ten, it is my shoes) and I am convinced that somebody took them. They either A) Came into the house and stole them or B) Somebody I live with took them and hid them. Yes, I eventually do find that pair of shoes. But after tearing the house apart. And once I do find them, I usually mutter "are you freaking kidding me?" Kyle thinks it comical and says maybe that means I have too much stuff (too many shoes to be specific). No, that's not the problem. The problem is that I am terribly disorganized. I wish I was more organized. But not to the point of being that "weird organized person" that gets a little anal about everything being put into the correct spot and in a certain way. I just want to be able to find my shoes.

30 Day Challenge- Day #21

Day 21 - A picture of something you wish you could forget

Laundry. Ugh. I wish I could forget the piles and piles of laundry that seem to be taking over our house every week. No, that is not an actual pile of our laundry. But that's what it feels like some days. Why do I let the laundry pile up? Because I choose to. I work 38 hrs and 45 minutes a week (I know, strange)and while I am there, I'm paying somebody else to spend time with my children. I see my boys for a very short period from 5-7:30 that consists of dinner, baths, and a few minutes of playtime. I choose to value those moments instead of doing stupid stuff like laundry. Once the boys are on their own, I'll have years to spend doing laundry. For now, it can wait. I can't get this time back with my kids, so the laundry and dishes are not a priority. It's hard being a working mom. I know a lot of "stay at homes" that have housekeepers. Really? Come walk in a "working moms" shoes for one day.

30 Day Challenge- Day #20

Day 20 - A picture of somewhere you'd love to travel

Alaska baby!!

Saturday, March 19, 2011

30 Day Challenge- Day #19

Day 19 - A picture and a letter

C

The letter C. Not C for Cat. Not C for Carrot. But C for Chase. Tonight when Chase was working on his letters he got to C and said "C for Chase!" I was so proud of him. He did that all on his own. I told him he needed to slow down growing up and he said "Can't Mommy." Almost made me cry.

30 Day Challenge- Day #18

Day 18 - A picture of your biggest insecurity

Oh, the good ol' belly! And no, that is not my belly, in case you were wondering. This is for sure my biggest insecurity. Not my weight or the size I wear, but the gross stretched out belly. When I decide to start, I will start a massive belly attack consisting of non-stop crunches. But until then, the picture above is how I will feel.To be honest, and pretty sickening, I wish I could just take a pair of scissors and cut off what I don't want around my waistline. But that would just be silly, right? SO, when I find the time between working and my two little kiddos, I will begin to attempt a brutal stomach workout.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

30 Day Challenge- Day #17

Day 17 - A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently

Just a field of some weed growing, right? No. It's a field of poison. Wheat. Also known as the cause of my years of throwing up, unexplained weight loss (it now explains how I got down to 100 pounds in college), diarrhea, stomach cramps, extreme fatigue (falling asleep at stop lights) and swelling of the throat. Turns out I have what is called Celiac Disease. That happens when your body is unable to process the wheat and the small intestine gets damaged every time the wheat ingredient is ingested. And wheat is in everything! I have had to give up cookies, bread, pasta, pizza, TWIZZLERS (crap!), crackers, cereal, etc...you get the point. The upside to this is that I feel a MILLION times better and I'm eating a lot healthier. At first I really craved the stuff I couldn't have, but now not so much. I'm getting used it. One day I may or may not get to slowly add some of it back into my diet. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if I could start eating cookies again! :)

30 Day Challenge-Day #16

Day 16 - A picture of someone who inspires you

My baby Chase. As my first born, he has inspired me more than anybody in this world ever could. From the day he was born he inspired me to be the best mom possible to my children and to never take anything for granted. I could have the worst day ever and the second I get to see him at the end of the day, it all goes away. He has inspired me to love bigger and to enjoy every minute of every day. Because of him, he inspired me to have baby Colton. Chase was such a joy to bring into our lives that he made us want to do it all over again. Now we are blessed with two little angels that inspire me EVERYDAY to be the best mom I can and to enjoy every minute of every day with them both. Now Colton better not inspire me to want to do it all over again a third time, that would not be cool! Two is enough :)
